Our Staff
Here is some information about our staff and Training Programs as well as some resources for existing staff and information for people who would like to work with us.
FNQILSA currently employs about 85 disability support workers and three administration staff. Our support workers work in the homes of the consumers they support and out in the community. They are highly trained and security screened and the majority have many years of experience. We are very proud of our staff and believe that they make us the great service we are.
Yes, you're all fabulous BUT...

At FNQILSA we believe training is essential for our staff to feel confident in performing their duties. Most of our workers have completed Certificate III in Disability Work and we endeavour to run this training every year for new staff. The course is made up of 14 modules ranging from personal care, advocacy, workplace health and safety, to operating disability specific equipment. Even our very experienced workers have admitted they learnt something new from the course (and not many of them enjoyed spending a day in a wheelchair).
We also provide funding for staff to attend short courses on subjects they feel they might benefit from. Some training examples are:
- Mental Health
- Looking after yourself so you can look after others
- Challenging Behaviour
- Non-Verbal Communication
- Understanding Brain Injury
We are always on the lookout for appropriate training and encourage staff and consumers to let us know when something is offered.
